Oh, what a night!
We had so much fun dancing, munching on delicious food, watching beautiful intercultural performances, and celebrating our community! Thank you to Terrance Morris and the amazing team of event planners who had the vision to create a truly magical moment in Bellingham history. Our hearts were bursting with gratitude and belonging as we got to connect with the folks in our community who are doing amazing work.
Monica was also so very honored to be acknowledged for her work in building community with a first annual Unity Award!
Looking forward to next year's Unity Ball where we will honor the work of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and all the social justice advocates in our community today!

This January, Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship's Religious Education program will be focused on racial justice learning, led by BUF's Black Lives Matter ministry action team. Classes will be held during the Sunday service on Jan 06, Jan 13, and Jan 20 from 10:30-11:30. All are welcome!
On January 6 and 13, Younger classes will explore skin color, diversity, and learn how “We are different, we’re the same” with hands-on activities and stories. Older classes will learn about building equitable interracial relationships, being an ally, and some history of racial injustice through role-play and discussion.
On Jan. 20 BUF will hold an Intergenerational Sunday. Children will share what they have learned about racial injustice and, along with RE team members and Black Lives Matter, will facilitate small group discussions about racial injustice ending with a message of hope and healing.
Please contact Hilde at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
As human beings, regardless of race, class, gender, or myriad other differences among us, we each need safety, connection, respect, and to be heard. It’s hard to stay open and welcoming of perspectives that differ from our own.
This workshop inspires and empowers participants to grow and engage in activities that:
- Honor human diversity
- Promote cultural self-awareness and understanding
- Engage in cross-cultural learning activities to gain in-depth knowledge of the history and culture of ethnic and cultural groups
- Examine historical and institutional power of the “isms” - racism, sexism, classism, etc.
